Glassworks 3D artist Markus Lauterbach: “The challenge for me was to get as much detail as possible into a very shallow depth of field. I used hi-res textures of real baby skin to cover our model, added some CG hair to get fine highlights and used Arnold to generate the skin shader. Arnold has excellent subsurface scattering options, which turned out to be a great help for our backlit scene.”

Studio aka CD Philip Hunt: “Grant was looking to do a quick project as a break from a large, ever more complicated script he was working on, and had always loved this one-paragraph account of a city dweller’s casual encounter with a chicken. Ultimately this new ‘small, quick project’ ended up taking two years to make during studio downtime. Grant also decided the story would be three times better if we made it three times in three different ways!”

Passion Pictures NYC studio has been buzzing along under the radar for a couple years but that all changes today with the release of this full-CG spot for Jack Daniel’s first entry into the flavored booze wars called “Tennessee Honey.”

Director Pete Candeland: “This was a fantastic project to kick-start our New York studio. The concept of a ‘Cool King Bee’ with strong character animation and a heavy art direction really drew me to the project.”

Dvein – Barcelona’s masters of photo-real magic – just released this relaunch clip for Spanish and Portuguese documentary channel Odisea.

“The aim was to take advantage of the semantic richness that ‘documentary’ implies: adventure, experiment, discovery… We tried to link all these with the channel’s logo, inspired in the natural organic world (conches, constellations, whirls) and the great human inventions (propellers, mills) but adding an emotional bond.”
